December is right around the corner. Yeah, tomorrow! That is a pretty fast corner. It seems like the year has just flown by. Now comes decorations, songs, presents, food, and all that other stuff that comes along with December holidays. So let’s talk about food. And presents. Presents and food. Luckily, you can have both at once and I really enjoy food gifts! It shows that the giver put some thought into the gift, not just picking up what’s for sale at the local big box store. Handmade, unique, edible presents – they just make you feel appreciated.
That being said, I think it is time to put down the Christmas (or other holiday) cookies. Just don’t even go there this year. Cookies are great and I certainly do like to eat them. But cookies are a “sometimes” treat. If all of my friends and family bring me a plate of cookies, that is a little more cookie than “sometimes”. You can really stand out this year and encourage healthier eating with some unique food gifts that are not all sugar.
When you make these unique flavors at home it is truly gourmet and I never even considered making my own hot sauce. With the Sriracha craze these days, I think that could be a hit!

Add Some Herbs
Fresh herbs are so flavorful but they go bad so quickly. Mix up some of these and your friends can keep those herbal tastes around a little longer.

Now we have already passed Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, and it is Cyber Monday so if you have not found the perfect present yet I think you have run out of spiffily named shopping days. Give some of these a try and I think you waist and wallet will be happier.
